Arrow Digital demo center in Ahmedabad installs Esko Kongsberg X24 Edge

  • The Esko Kongsberg X24 Edge cutting table recently installed at the Arrow Digital demo center in Ahmedabad

Arrow Digital, a supplier of printing and cutting equipment and technologies, installed the Esko Kongsberg X24 Edge cutting table at its demo center in Ahmedabad in July 2020. The new finishing and cutting table is equipped with a host of new features to handle a wider range of media.

Sam Patel, MD and CEO, Arrow Digital, said, ‘The new Kongsberg X Edge is extremely versatile and suitable for short-run production. The machine is designed to cut and finish simultaneously offering a better quality of finish and competitive edge over other cutting technology available in the market.’
According to him, finishing is just as important as printing but printing and finishing different substrates is a challenge – especially the non-conventional printable materials. Kongsberg offers a complete spectrum of tooling to finish a range of media from paper-based to harder material such as sun board, acrylic, MDF, ACP, WPC, bubble board and fabric. Instead of outsourcing finishing processes, the Kongsberg provides an in-house solution, giving a competitive edge.
Additionally, the company claims that the machine can help speed up, streamline, and enhance the finishing process, making sure that customers get the most out of their printer’s speed capabilities. Finishing can become a bottleneck in workflow and productivity. The Kongsberg series claims to strengthen the finishing process and increase profitability for a business. For print shops, maximizing profitability is a two-fold equation – printing and timely execution of finished products. With the right decisions and strategies in place, a business can ensure profitability with its strong finishing process. Considering the current problem of migrant labor, Kongsberg offers to take care of just-in-time product delivery commitments.
The ROI of the machine, according to the provider, can be recovered quickly owing to its versatility and capability to replace traditional cutting equipment such as laser, router, plotter and hand tool. It can also finish substrates such as duplex board, corrugation, honeycomb and foam providing an opportunity to diversify in other segments. The new cutting table can now provide V grooving, polishing and engraving applications.
The Kongsberg X Edge delivers a high production speed and cut quality at a good price allowing business expansion and unlocking production flexibility. The added features such as fast tool loading, auto-recognition and calibration are ideal for short-run jobs. It also comes with the added flexibility of an optional conveyor system to support automated board and roll feeding.
The new camera system helps in perfect registration for the heavily distorted jobs. The Edge recognition can register corrugation jobs where the print is the underside and detect barcode for automation.  The rack and pinion drive, the construction of the tabletop and the dual motors, all combine to ensure that the table provides the cutting accuracy and consistency. It claims to be engineered to work continuously (24 X 7) for several years assuring that your investment is secured.
Patel added, ‘The main purpose for installing the Kongsberg Edge is to give the customers and the prospects the entire workflow experience and they can test their product right from design to print and cut. The Kongsberg X Edge appeals to clients who desire a no-compromise, quality product at an affordable price, but importantly a machine that offers upgradability in the future as the business grows.
‘During the pandemic, as skilled labor grows scarce and expensive, less wastage and fast execution of print and cut jobs pay for itself in supporting timely deliveries in this ever-demanding industry.
